"Romeo and Juliet" by William Shakespeare is a timeless tragedy that tells the story of two young lovers from feuding families in Verona, Italy. Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet meet at a masquerade ball and are instantly drawn to each other, leading to a secret romance and a series of fateful events.

Characters
Note: character ages do not necessarily have to match actor ages. Character genders may be changed based on audition turnout and casting.

Romeo: The impulsive and passionate young heir of the Montague family, who becomes instantly infatuated with Juliet. Male, 14-17 years old.

Juliet: The intelligent and strong-willed daughter of the Capulet family, whose interest in Romeo defies her family's expectations. Female, 14-17 years old.
​
Tybalt: Juliet's hot-headed and aggressive cousin, who despises the Montagues and whose violent actions escalate the feud between the two families. Male, late teens-early 20's
​
Mercutio: Romeo's close friend and a kinsman to the Prince, known for his witty and imaginative speeches. Male, mid-late teens.

Montague: Romeo's father and the patriarch of the Montague family, who is embroiled in the ongoing feud with the Capulets. Male, mid 30's+

Capulet: Juliet's father and the head of the Capulet family, whose desire to control Juliet's future contributes to the tragic outcome. Male, mid 30s+

Nurse: Juliet's loyal and talkative nurse, who acts as a confidante and messenger for Juliet in her secret relationship with Romeo. Female, late 20's+

Friar Laurence: A well-meaning priest who aids Romeo and Juliet in their quest to be together, but whose well-intentioned plans ultimately lead to unforeseen tragedy. Male, 40's+
